Why do i get a DNS error when i try to connect my ps3 via modem threw a ethernet cable?

I put my settings to “wired connection” on network settings but when i test the connection, it does succeed in get the IP address but no internet connection due to DNS error,if anybody knows how to get around this to play online it would really be appreciated.

this some times happens to me.try unplugging your modem before turning on your ps3, then plug modem back in and wait like 3 min,and then turn on the ps3.hope this works

depending on the model of the modem, if it’s got a dns setting on the modem then set that to either your providers dns and then set your PS3 dns to the modem IP address.

Alternatively you can set the PS3 to use a different DNS e.g. 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220.
