@turnthepage you dont need a special someone to enjoy chocolate. :) it’s still just as decadant. Hope you find a special someone though ’cause they make things sweet too.

@Hewhosmokeswomen its for taste. the water salinity really decides how a pasta tastes… I tried water salty vs just plain water without salt and it made a slight difference.. but I think you could adjust it to your taste. :)

@Hewhosmokeswomen Heavily salting the water means you don’t have to add salt later. It flavors the pasta without oversalting it.

@missavaricebliss With this particular dish the perfect herb is saffron, I tried it multiple times and it works great. You can use basil as well, but then leave the chocolate out.

I’m sure other herbs would taste great too. I love basil, so I might try mine with that instead. Or how about a blend of a few different kinds?

I think the salt does affect the taste, but most people don’t use enough to make any difference. The recipe for the lava cakes is so simple, I can’t wait to try it! When I’m trying to have a fancy dessert at home, I’ll often make a strawberry reduction with champagne or whatever we happen to be drinking that night.

anybody else think she used A LOT of salt? like is all that really necessary? like does it affect the taste or does she just use it to help the water boil at a higher temp?

@HamsterClawz
Excuse me? Chocolate and strawberry allergies are very common allergies. I get allergy treatments because of the severity of my food allergies, so I know from a team of allergy specialists who went to school specifically to learn to treat allergies. They would know more than you, so unless you’re in a CERTIFIED position to tell me otherwise, keep your unsubstantiated opinions to yourself.
